How are you energy levels? This is part of my Restmas series in December and swipe to see the 5 ways to get a better nights sleep. ❤️‍🩹my energy levels are low and I know it's down to not sleeping well. This comes up in my Kinesiology & nutrition clinic a lot so thought I'd share 5 top tips - there's so many more to share - to help you get a better nights sleep: 🛁 Take a bath with Epsom salts & soak for 20mins 🧘‍♀️ Childs pose with deep abdominal breathing for 5minutes ❌ No screens TV/mobile at least an hour before bed - even if you wear blue light glasses ⌚️👀Take off your iwatches & fitbits they connect your body electrics to wifi & disrupt sleep (why do you need a watch telling you you slept badly anyway?!) 🌿Take a herbal supplement like hops, valerian & passionflower - 3 capsules at breakfast & dinner Lily & Loaf do a great one - call 01952 671600 to set up an account & quote ref: 12026331 to get 15% off ✨ How many hours sleep do you need a night?

Want to learn how to calm your nervous system quickly? ✨It’s Restmas self care top tip time once again with a fantastic technique you can use over & over each day as many times as needed. ✨Shaking is fantastic to release excess adrenaline & excess or stuck energy from your body and nervous system ✨ Stand with feet shoulder width apart, keep your knees soft and shake your body - it’ll feel like a light bounce on the spot ✨Shake for around 3minutes if you’ve time, then stand still hands on your belly and notice how you feel - you may experience a zinging feeling throughout your body, I think it feels like all my nerve endings are reconnecting and centering, so I’m reset and ready for the rest of the day. ✨Save this for later for when you’ve got 5 minutes and in the words of Taylor Swift….. SHAKE IT OFF 💛

This simple yet uber effective breathing technique is my go to if I’m feeling overwhelmed, got a whirring mind whirring mind and out of control things to do list . It has also brought me out of panic attacks AND is a go to for pregnancy & labour. ✨As soon as we lengthen the exhalation without forcing, the body starts to calm and engage with the rest & digest nervous system. To me it’s a game changer. ✨Let’s breathe ✨Find a comfortable seat, feel your weight even through your sit bones, grounding downward to the earth beneath you. ✨Allow your spine to rise tall and your heart to lift. If comfortable for you close your eyes or just soften your gaze and notice the regular rhythem of your breath. ✨Soften your face & give your jaw a stretch or take a yawn to start to release any held tension ✨Part your lips slightly, so you could slide a penny between them ✨Inhale through the nose ✨Exhale with a gentle long breath through your parted lips & visulise a golden thread coming out of your mouth ✨Allow the breath to lengthen, with no forcing, a little further each time ✨Repeat 10-12 times or for as long as you have time for - I’d recommend at least 3minutes to feel a real shift to calm ✨Save this to use whenever & wherever you are to restore calm to mind, body and soul
